Product Specifications
Membrane Electrode Assembly Electrolytic Cells EC-MEA1
A general-purpose, corrosion-resistant MEA electrolytic cell for temperature-controlled electrochemical research.
The EC-MEA1 is a general-purpose bipolar-plate MEA electrolytic cell for fundamental electrocatalysis research, including fuel cells, CO₂ reduction and water electrolysis. It also supports electrosynthesis and electrochemical wastewater-treatment studies. High-purity titanium plate construction, optional high-purity nickel plates, customisable flow fields, and standard heating and temperature-measurement ports provide a corrosion-resistant platform for constant-temperature laboratory testing.
Key Features
Temperature-Controlled Electrochemical Testing
Standard heating and temperature-measurement ports support constant-temperature testing under defined electrochemical conditions.
Corrosion-Resistant Plate Construction
High-purity titanium plates are standard, with high-purity nickel plates available for specialized electrochemical environments.
Customisable Flow-Field Design
Supports serpentine, parallel, vein-pattern, comb-type and point-array flow fields for different reactant-distribution requirements.

Published Application Example
High-Rate CO₂ Electroreduction on Cu(100)-Rich Films in MEA Systems
Zhang et al. evaluated Cu(100)-rich electrodes for high-rate CO₂ electroreduction in a membrane electrode assembly electrolyzer. In a 4 cm² MEA configuration operated at 120 mA cm⁻², the system achieved an ethylene Faradaic efficiency of 55.8% and a full-cell electricity conversion efficiency of 40.2% toward C₂+ products, with stable operation for approximately 4.5 h. The system was further scaled to 25 cm² and operated at a total current of 12 A (480 mA cm⁻²), achieving a C₂+ single-pass yield of 13.2%.
Demonstrated EC-MEA1 Capabilities
Supports zero-gap MEA configurations with serpentine flow fields for CO₂ electrolysis.
Enables electrode scale-up from small laboratory areas to larger active surfaces.
Allows stable operation under alkaline conditions at industrially relevant current densities.
