High-stability and extreme precision of the magnetic fields are key factors in several fields of application, including medical related purposes, e.g. Nuclear Magnetic Resonance and paramagnetic material studies.
CAEN ELS power supply series enables users to easily adapt the current entity, and thus the generated magnetic field, in any situation, thanks to the extreme reconfigurability and the proprietary digital control loop technique that permits a real-time setting of the power supply parameters. Every power supply module is also provided with a display in order to monitor and control the unit locally.
Induced magnetic fields are a main issue when developing, upgrading or renewing particle accelerator machines. Obtaining the desired particle focus and trajectory is strongly affected by the power supplies quality and the machine operation by their reliability.
These digital current-controlled SMPS (Switch Mode Power Supplies) were specifically developed for both linear accelerators e.g. Free Electron Lasers and synchrotron light sources, from low energy (keV) to high energy (GeV) ones, having all the same need to control correctors, quadrupoles, sextupoles and skew magnets. The strict need for a 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year operation was one of the strongest impacting factor in the implementation of these state-of-the-art current generators.
